Coming and Past Interviews and Workshops:
More people than ever have been gardening since March 2020, especially food gardening. Seed sales were up 100-400% in 2021 and the trend is continuing. Now, in 2025, interest is up again following uncertainty over food prices due to tariffs and tariff threats.
Upcoming Events
On Wednesday, May 14, 2025 I will present a free lecture titled “Food Gardening in America: What’s Going On Now” at San Francisco State University. It will be in the library building, in Room 286, at 1:30. This is not a how-to garden session, but a presentation on the factors that decrease or increase food gardening and how best to increase the utilization of food grown, however there will be tips useful to gardeners and participants will leave with a potted vegetable. Refreshments will be served. To attend, just show up.
On May 17, at 10:00 in the morning, I will give a lecture and hands-on workshop on Plant Propagation at the Garden for the Environment, at 7th Avenue and Lawton. There is a small fee. Go to gardenfortheenvironment.org for more information.

Column:
The SF Chronicle dropped my column in 2023, after the Food + Wine section shrank to 8 pages or less. However a search on sfgate.com will get you a number of articles about or by me that appeared in the Chronicle.
On June 1, 2014, I was interviewed for the KCBS program In Depth, a 30 minute show. The link to the podcast follows: (Published version stops here–I have asked for help showing the rest.)
